This festival usually falls on 2nd week of January, of English calendar year. The Sun make his outset towards north pole and this the movement of the Sun from this day is called "Uttarayana Gati". This festival is observed largely in Orissa by both Arya and Anarya i.e, by general and Adivasi caste. Since this occasion falls just after the harvesting of the paddy crops is over in Orissa. Particularly, the festival is observed largely among all with joy and ceremony. "Makar Bhoga" is made of new harvested rice, milk, sugar, coconut and cheese etc. Mela is observed at Dhabaleswar in Cuttack, Hatakeshwar at Atri in Puri, Makar Muni temple in Balasore and near various deities in each district of Orissa. |

It falls on Sukla Panchami of Oriya Magha month. This festival is widely observed in the Oriya society throughout the state. Maha Saraswati Sakti is being worshipped on the said day at the commencement of Spring season. The large gathering on the said festival is made at Kendrapara, Baladev Jew temple where the deity is decorated in "Kanchi Kaveri vesha". Lord Jagannath of Puri is also dressed with "Padma Vesha". |

It falls on 14th day of Oriya Magha masa in Krushna Pakshya. This festival is purely religious festival. People of Orissa who are dedicated to Lord Siva and make fast on the said day and offer Bhoga and darshan to Lord Siva in each and every Siva temples throughout the state. The night of the Sivaratri is one among four ratries and known as Kala ratri. People who observe this festival by making this festival by making fasting on the day also go without sleep in the night and enflame Dipa throughout the night. Large gathering is made at the Siva temple like Kapilash in Dhenkanal, Akhandalamani, Aradi in Blasore, Lingaraj in Bhubaneswar, Sri Lokanath at Puri, Sri Ladubaba at Sarankula, Mahabinayaka at Darapani of Cuttack, Sri Gupteswar at Jaypur in Koraput, Paramhans nath at Cuttack, Sri Dhabaleswar at Cuttack and etc. |

This starts from Phaguna Sukla Dasami and ends on Purnima day and some places are also observed after 10th dy of Purnima. This festival is socio-religious festival. The milkman caste festival Lord Krishna and Radha Devi are taken out of the temple and carried in procession through Viman to Mela place. The deities by Pratimas are also made procession around the village. Jhulan at Dola bedi are also made for the deity. This Dola Purnima is also the birthday of Gouranga Mahaprabhu and Goudiya Vaishnva dedicated Sadhus observed the festival with pomp and ceremony. |

It falls on Sukla astami day of Oriya Chaitra masa and specially on the date the Aswami Tithi till madhan i.e, 12 noon. This is purely religious festival and observed prominently in Lingaraj temple at Bhubneswar. The Goddess Rukmini as Bije pratima of Harihar are taken outside on the car built for the purpose and carried in procession to Mausima temple. The speciality in the dragging of Car is that the Car is not turned on turning itself but drawn from the opposite side which is also taken as front side.

It starts from Sukla Saptami to Sukla Dashami(Dassahara day) during Chaitra masa. This is purely a religious festival. The Mrunmaya Murti of the goddess Durga is worshipped at different places of the state. This is called Basanta Durga Utsava. The reference of this festival is continuing from material worries. Medha Rishi advised both of them to build a Munmaya Murti of the Goddess Abhaya Sakti and to worshipped her for relief of material worries. Accordingly Raja Suratha and his businessman Samadhi built the idol of Goddess in the forest and worshipped her. In result Raja Suratha got back his lost kingdom from his enemies and the businessman got his house and family members returned due to the grace of Goddess. Right from that day onwards this Sakti Puja has been continuing either in this Basanta Dola Utsava Occasion & Saradiya Durga Utsava Occasion.
